Cookie
Policy.
This policy explains what cookies are, which cookies BarberBoats.co.nz uses and why, the third-party cookies you may encounter, and exactly how you can manage or switch them off in your browser.
General information only
This Cookie Policy is provided for general information and does not constitute legal advice. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
[ 01 ]Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet or phone) when you visit. They let the site remember information about your visit โ such as your preferences or whether you have seen a particular notice โ which can make your next visit easier and the site more useful. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are called first-party cookies; cookies set by another domain (for example an analytics or affiliate provider) are called third-party cookies. Cookies may be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (which stay for a set period).
Types of cookies we use
[ 02 ]We use a small, purpose-limited set of cookies, grouped into four categories:
Strictly necessary cookies
These are essential for the Site to function โ for example, to remember your cookie choices or keep the Site secure. They cannot be switched off through our Site because it would stop working properly.
Performance / analytics cookies
These help us understand how visitors use the Site โ which pages are popular, how long people stay, and where they arrive from. We use this data in aggregate to improve our content. We primarily use Google Analytics for this.
Functional cookies
These remember choices you make (such as dismissing the age or cookie notice) so you don't have to repeat them each visit. They improve your experience but are not essential.
Affiliate-tracking cookies
Because BarberBoats is funded by affiliate commissions, some links set an affiliate click-tracking cookie. When you click through to an operator, a cookie (usually set by the operator or its affiliate network) records that the referral came from us. If you later register or deposit, that cookie lets the operator attribute the referral so we may earn a commission โ at no extra cost to you. These cookies do not track your gambling activity for us; they simply credit the referral.
Cookies we use โ examples
[ 03 ]The table below gives representative examples. Exact names and durations can change as our tools update.
| Cookie | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| bb_consent | Strictly necessary | Stores your cookie consent choice | 12 months |
| bb_agegate | Functional | Remembers you confirmed you are 18+ | 30 days |
| _ga | Performance / analytics | Google Analytics โ distinguishes unique visitors | 2 years |
| _ga_<ID> | Performance / analytics | Google Analytics 4 โ maintains session state | 2 years |
| _gid | Performance / analytics | Google Analytics โ distinguishes visitors (short term) | 24 hours |
| bb_click / clickid | Affiliate-tracking | Records the referral to an operator for commission attribution | 30โ90 days |
Third-party cookies
[ 04 ]Some cookies are set by third parties whose services we use:
- Google Analytics โ measures and reports Site usage. See Google's own privacy and cookie information for details on how it processes data.
- Affiliate networks and operators โ when you click an affiliate link, the destination operator or its network may set cookies to attribute the referral and manage its own marketing. Those cookies are governed by that third party's cookie and privacy policies, which we do not control.
Managing and disabling cookies
[ 05 ]You are always in control of cookies. Most browsers let you view, delete and block cookies through their settings. Note that blocking all cookies may affect how the Site works. Here is where to find the controls in the main browsers:
- Google Chrome: Settings โ Privacy and security โ Third-party cookies (or “Cookies and other site data”).
- Safari: Settings/Preferences โ Privacy โ Manage Website Data / Block all cookies. On iOS: Settings โ Safari โ Privacy & Security.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings โ Privacy & Security โ Cookies and Site Data โ Manage Data / Clear Data.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings โ Cookies and site permissions โ Manage and delete cookies and site data.
You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing Google's official browser opt-out add-on.
Consent
[ 06 ]Where required, we ask for your consent to non-essential cookies (analytics, functional and affiliate cookies) before setting them, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time using your browser settings or any cookie notice shown on the Site. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent because the Site cannot function without them.
Do Not Track
[ 07 ]Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is currently no consistent industry standard for how sites should respond to DNT signals, so our Site does not respond to them differently. You can still control cookies using the browser methods described above.
Changes to this policy
[ 08 ]We may update this Cookie Policy as our tools or the law change. The current version will always appear on this page with the “Last updated” date shown above.
Contact
[ 09 ]Questions about our use of cookies? Email [email protected] or use our contact page. For more on how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
